Phase 2, 2009-2010

Children & Infants play area

Villagers expressed a desire for a range of equipment that noit only challenged children, but that was also in keeping with the rural surroundings. Our intention is to supply equipment made from wood, that incorprates a range of standard equipment such as slides and swing, but also has challneges for balance, co-ordination and creativity. To this end there will be a central area that will incorpate the above and also a challenging 'trim trail' around the perimeter (this will have monkey bars, parrellel bars, balancing beams etc). Please see PDF of stage 2 for a rough idea.

state of play: partial funding secured

Stage 3, 2010-2011

This will be an adult exercise area/outdoor gym. it will provice dipping, chinning, bench press, leg press, steppers and eliptical trainers (please see PDF for a rough idea). this will be located in the top right hand corner. the copse will provide partiual screening from the children with the option of a further hedge to improve privacy if feedback requires it.

State of play: funding applications in progress.

In between the childrens area and MUGA, there will be some teenage chill out shelters, and further toward the front of the play area there will be some picnic taables which will also provide shelter from rain.

Our intention is to make this a social hub for all ages og Blackthorn. an area where young can play alongside old, where people can go just to 'chill out' and where the opportunity for fitness and team play can be encouraged and developed.
