The UK Border Agency (UKBA) submitted a planning application on 2nd Jan 2009 for the development of an Immigration Removal Centre (IRC) on former MoD land in Piddington (application reference 08/02511/F). You may have seen flyers, notices and press reports regarding this application towards the end of last year. Your parish council, together with thoseof Piddington, Ambrosden and Arncott have been monitoring developments in this regard for some time now and will shortly be making a balanced response to the application ahead of the committee review scheduled for mid February. The full application can be reviewed by visiting the Cherwell District Council (CDC) planning portal (go to www.cherwell.gov.uk) or the Bodicote House offices of CDC. All councils urge parishoners to view the application and respond by no later than 4th Feb 2009. Should you wish to discuss this matter with the parish council, please call Adds Arshad on 07733 480600 for an update. A representative of Blackthorn Parish Council (and representatives of other local parish councils) will be attending a liaison meeting with UKBA and relevant authorities on 2nd Feb 2009, following which a further update will be posted on the website
